Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHFH IJKJ LMNM OPQP RECE

Welcome O truant storkA
And where have you been so longB
And do you bring that grace of springC
That filleth my heart with songB
-
Descend upon my roofD
Bide on this ash contentE
I would have you know what cruel woeF
Befell me when you wentE
-
All up in the moody skyG
A shifting threat o'er headH
They were breaking the snow and bidding it goF
Cover the beautiful deadH
-
Came snow on garden spotI
Came snow on mere and woldJ
Came the withering breath of white robed deathK
And the once warm earth was coldJ
-
Stork the tender rose treeL
That bloometh when you are hereM
Trembled and sighed like a waiting brideN
Then drooped on a virgin bierM
-
But the brook that hath seen you comeO
Leaps forth with a hearty shoutP
And the crocus peeps from the bed where it sleepsQ
To know what the noise is aboutP
-
Welcome O honest friendR
And bide on my roof contentE
For my heart would sing of the grace of springC
When the winter of woe is spentE
