Rhyme Scheme: AAABBCCD ECEAAFCD GCGAAHC ICAJJKCD CCCEEL HCHMMNC

As beats the sun from mountain crestA
With 'pretty pretty'A
Cometh the partridge from her nestA
The flowers threw kisses sweet to herB
For all the flowers that bloomed knew herB
Yet hasteneth she to mine and meC
Ah pretty prettyC
Ah dear little partridgeD
-
And when I hear the partridge cryE
So pretty prettyC
Upon the house top breakfast IE
She comes a chirping far and wideA
And swinging from the mountain sideA
I see and hear the dainty dearF
Ah pretty prettyC
Ah dear little partridgeD
-
Thy nest's inlaid with posies rareG
And pretty prettyC
Bloom violet rose and lily thereG
The place is full of balmy dewA
The tears of flowers in love with youA
And one and all impassioned callH
'O pretty prettyC
O dear little partridge '-
-
Thy feathers they are soft and sleekI
So pretty prettyC
Long is thy neck and small thy breastA
The color of thy plumage farJ
More bright than rainbow colors areJ
Sweeter than dove is she I loveK
My pretty prettyC
My dear little partridgeD
-
When comes the partridge from the treeC
So pretty prettyC
And sings her little hymn to meC
Why all the world is cheered therebyE
The heart leaps up into the eyeE
And echo then gives back againL
Our 'Pretty pretty '-
Our 'Dear little partridge '-
-
Admitting the most blest of allH
And pretty prettyC
The birds come with thee at thy callH
In flocks they come and round they playM
And this is what they seem to sayM
They say and sing each feathered thingN
'Ah pretty prettyC
Ah dear little partridge '-
