Abu Midjan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE BFBF GDGD HFHF

When Father Time swings round his scytheA
Intomb me 'neath the bounteous vineB
So that its juices red and blitheC
May cheer these thirsty bones of mineB
-
Elsewise with tears and bated breathD
Should I survey the life to beE
But oh How should I hail the deathD
That brings that vinous grace to meE
-
So sung the dauntless SaracenB
Whereat the Prophet Chief ordainsF
That curst of Allah loathed of menB
The faithless one shall die in chainsF
-
But one vile Christian slave that layG
A prisoner near that prisoner saithD
God willing I will plant some dayG
A vine where liest thou in deathD
-
Lo over Abu Midjan's graveH
With purpling fruit a vine tree growsF
Where rots the martyred Christian slaveH
Allah and only Allah knowsF
