A Tardy Apology Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFG HHIBBI BBBJJB BBGIIG

You ask me friendA
Why I don't sendA
The long since due and paid for numbersB
Why songless IC
As drunken lieC
Abandoned to Lethean slumbersB
-
Long time agoD
As well you knowD
I started in upon that carmenE
My work was vainF
But why complainF
When gods forbid how helpless are menG
-
Some ages backH
The sage AnackH
Courted a frisky Samian bodyI
Singing her praiseB
In metered phraseB
As flowing as his bowls of toddyI
-
Till I was hoarseB
Might I discourseB
Upon the cruelties of VenusB
'T were waste of timeJ
As well of rhymeJ
For you've been there yourself MaecenasB
-
Perfect your blissB
If some fair missB
Love you yourself and not your minaeG
I fortune's sportI
All vainly courtI
The beauteous polyandrous PhryneG
