A Paraphrase, Circa 1715 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF

Since Chloe is so monstrous fairA
With such an eye and such an airA
What wonder that the world complainsB
When she each am'rous suit disdainsB
-
Close to her mother's side she clingsC
And mocks the death her folly bringsC
To gentle swains that feel the smartsD
Her eyes inflict upon their heartsD
-
Whilst thus the years of youth go byE
Shall Colin languish Strephon dieE
Nay cruel nymph come choose a mateF
And choose him ere it be too lateF
