A Lullaby Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCCDD EFEFGDGGDD BHBHFIFFID

The stars are twinkling in the skiesA
The earth is lost in slumbers deepB
So hush my sweet and close thine eyesA
And let me lull thy soul to sleepB
Compose thy dimpled hands to restC
And like a little birdling lieD
Secure within thy cozy nestC
Upon my loving mother breastC
And slumber to my lullabyD
So hushaby O hushabyD
-
The moon is singing to a starE
The little song I sing to youF
The father sun has strayed afarE
As baby's sire is straying tooF
And so the loving mother moonG
Sings to the little star on highD
And as she sings her gentle tuneG
Is borne to me and thus I croonG
For thee my sweet that lullabyD
Of hushaby O hushabyD
-
There is a little one asleepB
That does not hear his mother's songH
But angel watchers as I weepB
Surround his grave the night tide longH
And as I sing my sweet to youF
Oh would the lullaby I singI
The same sweet lullaby he knewF
While slumb'ring on this bosom tooF
Were borne to him on angel's wingI
So hushaby O hushabyD
