A Counterblast Against Garlic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGFGHIHI JDJDKLKL

May the man who has cruelly murdered his sireA
A crime to be punished with deathB
Be condemned to eat garlic till he shall expireC
Of his own foul and venomous breathB
What stomachs these rustics must have who can eatD
This dish that Canidia madeE
Which imparts to my colon a torturous heatD
And a poisonous look I'm afraidE
-
They say that ere Jason attempted to yokeF
The fire breathing bulls to the plowG
He smeared his whole body with garlic a jokeF
Which I fully appreciate nowG
When Medea gave Glauce her beautiful dressH
In which garlic was scattered aboutI
It was cruel and rather low down I confessH
But it settled the point beyond doubtI
-
On thirsty Apulia ne'er has the sunJ
Inflicted such terrible heatD
As for Hercules' robe although poisoned 't was funJ
When compared with this garlic we eatD
M cenas if ever on garbage like thisK
You express a desire to be fedL
May Mrs M cenas object to your kissK
And lie at the foot of the bedL
