Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF AGHIJKLMNOP QRSTUA J

If it is only for the taking offA
the velvet cloakB
the ostrich feather boaC
the dress which slithers to the floorD
with the sound of strange men sighingE
on imagined street cornersF
-
If it is only for the taking offA
the red lace braG
with rosewindows of breastsH
the red lace pantsI
with dark suggestionJ
of Venus' first nameK
the black net stockingsL
cobwebby as fateM
criscrossed like our livesN
the silver sandalsO
glimmering as rainP

clothes are necessaryQ
Oh bulky barrier between soul soulR
soul selfS
how it comforts usT
to take you downU
How it heartens us to strip you offA
-
this is no matter of fashionJ
