Here I Am! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHDIJIDK LMNOPQ PRSTU

Here like a penitentA
At the grove of the ancient godsB
I stand with hands raisedC
Like in worship and supplicationD
Chanting songs whose lyrics I understand notE
Whose rhythm I can't danceF
-
The prophets liedG
For they prophesied of better daysH
Yet they have been overtakenD
By unprecedented evilI
For the messiah has refusedJ
To die for the peopleI
He has forsaken his missionD
Abandoned the flock he vowed to protectK
-
Yet they say better days are comingL
Shall we clap for themM
Or seek another wayN
For we stand at the crossroadsO
Unable to chooseP
The right from the wrong pathQ
-
But we've got to chooseP
For soon the night would comeR
Upon us and we would beS
Unable to distinguishT
The black goat in the darknessU
