A
-
I cried at Pity not at PainB
I heard a Woman sayC
Poor Child and something in her voiceD
Convicted me of meE
-
So long I fainted to myselfF
It seemed the common wayC
And Health and Laughter Curious thingsG
To look at like a ToyH
-
To sometimes hear Rich people buyI
And see the Parcel rolledJ
And carried I supposed to HeavenK
For children made of GoldJ
-
But not to touch or wish forL
Or think of with a sighI
And so and so had been to meE
Had God willed differentlyE
-
I wish I knew that Woman's nameM
So when she comes this wayC
To hold my life and hold my earsN
For fear I hear her sayC
-
She's sorry I am dead againO
Just when the Grave and II
Have sobbed ourselves almost to sleepP
Our only LullabyI
