The Wife Speaks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST UVNWXY

Husband to day could you and I beholdA
The sun that brought us to our bridal mornB
Rising so splendid in the winter skyC
We thought fair spring returned when we were wedD
Could the shades vanish from these fifteen yearsE
Which stand like columns guarding the approachF
To that great temple of the double soulG
That is as one would you turn back my dearH
And for the sake of Love's mysterious dreamI
As old as Adam and as sweet as EveJ
Take me as I took you and once more goK
Towards that goal which none of us have reachedL
Contesting battles which but prove a lossM
The victor vanquished by the wounded oneN
Teaching each other sacrifice of selfO
True immolation to the marriage bondP
Learning the joys of birth the woe of deathQ
Leaving in chaos all the hopes of lifeR
Heart broken yet with courage pressing onS
For fame and fortune artists needing bothT
Or would you rather I will acquiesceU
Since we must choose what is and are grown grayV
Stay in life's desert watch our setting sunN
Calm as those statues in Egyptian sandsW
Hand clasping hand with patience and with peaceX
Wait for a future which contains no pastY

Blessed Mudiaga Adjekpagbon: Hmmmmm. Marital jingoism in verses flow.
Blessed Mudiaga Adjekpagbon: Interesting. I like the figures of speech such as personification and other poetic imageries employed in delivering the messages of the poem.
