Zola Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECFE

Because he puts the compromising chartA
Of hell before your eyes you are afraidB
Because he counts the price that you have paidB
For innocence and counts it from the startA
You loathe him But he sees the human heartA
Of God meanwhile and in God's hand has weighedB
Your squeamish and emasculate crusadeB
Against the grim dominion of his artA
-
Never until we conquer the uncouthC
Connivings of our shamed indifferenceD
We call it Christian faith are we to scanE
The racked and shrieking hideousness of TruthC
To find in hate's polluted self defenceF
Throbbing the pulse the divine heart of manE
