The Story Of The Ashes And The Flame Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDCEEF

No matter why nor whence nor when she cameA
There was her place No matter what men saidB
No matter what she was living or deadB
Faithful or not he loved her all the sameA
The story was as old as human shameA
But ever since that lonely night she fledB
With books to blind him he had only readB
The story of the ashes and the flameA
-
There she was always coming pretty soonC
To fool him back with penitent scared eyesD
That had in them the laughter of the moonC
For baffled lovers and to make him thinkE
Before she gave him time enough to winkE
Sin's kisses were the keys to ParadiseF
