| With small soft hands that once did keep in tune | B |
| The strings that stretch from heaven till too soon | B |
| The change came and the music passed away | A |
| - | |
| Now there is nothing but the ghosts of things | C |
| No life no love no children and no men | D |
| And over the forgotten place there clings | C |
| The strange and unrememberable light | E |
| That is in dreams The music failed and then | D |
| God frowned and shut the village from His sight | E |
