The Altar Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCBBC DCDEEC

Alone remote nor witting where I wentA
I found an altar builded in a dreamB
A fiery place whereof there was a gleamB
So swift so searching and so eloquentC
Of upward promise that love's murmur blentC
With sorrow's warning gave but a supremeB
Unending impulse to that human streamB
Whose flood was all for the flame's fury bentC
-
Alas I said the world is in the wrongD
But the same quenchless fever of unrestC
That thrilled the foremost of that martyred throngD
Thrilled me and I awoke and was the sameE
Bewildered insect plunging for the flameE
That burns and must burn somehow for the bestC
