Sonnet (the Master And The Slave Go Hand In Hand) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBC DEFDDF

The master and the slave go hand in handA
Though touch be lost The poet is a slaveB
And there be kings do sorrowfully craveB
The joyance that a scullion may commandA
But ah the sonnet slave must understandA
The mission of his bondage or the graveB
May clasp his bones or ever he shall saveB
The perfect word that is the poet's wandC
-
The sonnet is a crown whereof the rhymesD
Are for Thought's purest gold the jewel stonesE
But shapes and echoes that are never doneF
Will haunt the workshop as regret sometimesD
Will bring with human yearning to sad thronesD
The crash of battles that are never wonF
