| About the place where there is now no place | B |
| But a walled hole where fruitless vines embrace | B |
| Their parent skeletons that yet survive | A |
| In evil thorns none of us could arrive | A |
| At a more cogent answer to their ways | C |
| Than one old Isaac in his latter days | C |
| Had humor or compassion to contrive | A |

| The Power that you call yours and I call mine | E |
| Extinguished in the last of them a line | E |
| That Satan would have disinherited | D |
