For Some Poems By Matthew Arnold Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECDE

Sweeping the chords of Hellas with firm handA
He wakes lost echoes from song's classic shoreB
And brings their crystal cadence back once moreB
To touch the clouds and sorrows of a landA
Where God's truth cramped and fettered with a bandA
Of iron creeds he cheers with golden loreB
Of heroes and the men that long beforeB
Wrought the romance of ages yet unscannedA
-
Still does a cry through sad Valhalla goC
For Balder pierced with Lok's unhappy sprayD
For Balder all but spared by Frea's charmsE
And still does art's imperial vista showC
On the hushed sands of Oxus far awayD
Young Sohrab dying in his father's armsE
