For Arvia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCB DDBEEB

On her fifth birthdayA
-
-
You Eyes you large and all inquiring EyesB
That look so dubiously into meC
And are not satisfied with what you seeC
Tell me the worst and let us have no liesB
Tell me the meaning of your scrutiniesB
And of myself Am I a MysteryC
Am I a Boojum or just CompanyC
What do you say What do you think You EyesB
-
You say not but you think beyond a doubtD
And you have the whole world to think aboutD
With very little time for little thingsB
So let it be and let it all be fairE
For you and for the rest who cannot shareE
Your gold of unrevealed awakeningsB

Consuelo Chronis : This was the first English language poem I really liked. There is something marvelous about addressing "You, eyes" so that the writer is addressing the little girl in a novel way and I imagine the young child and can relate to the way in which children sometimes observe adults musing but not telling. There is a whole world of beautiful possibilities in this poems lines.
