Demos Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCB BDCB EFFEFE A GHHGGIHG JIIKIK

IA
-
All you that are enamored of my nameB
And least intent on what most I requireC
Beware for my design and your desireC
Deplorably are not as yet the sameB
-
Beware I say the failure and the shameB
Of losing that for which you now aspireD
So blindly and of hazarding entireC
The gift that I was bringing when I cameB
-
Give as I will I cannot give you sightE
Whereby to see that with you there are someF
To lead you and be led But they are dumbF
Before the wrangling and the shrill delightE
Of your deliverance that has not comeF
And shall not if I fail you as I mightE

-
So little have you seen of what awaitsG
Your fevered glimpse of a democracyH
Confused and foiled with an equalityH
Not equal to the envy it createsG
That you see not how near you are the gatesG
Of an old king who listens fearfullyI
To you that are outside and are to beH
The noisy lords of imminent estatesG
-
Rather be then your prayer that you shall haveJ
Your kingdom undishonored Having allI
See not the great among you for the smallI
But hear their silence for the few shall saveK
The many or the many are to fallI
Still to be wrangling in a noisy graveK
