The Manor Farm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIAJKJDLAM KNOMPAQ

THE rock like mud unfroze a little and rillsA
Ran and sparkled down each side of the roadB
Under the catkins wagging in the hedgeC
But earth would have her sleep out spite of the sunD
Nor did I value that thin gilding beamE
More than a pretty February thingF
Till I came down to the old Manor FarmG
And church and yew tree opposite in ageH
Its equals and in size The church and yewI
And farmhouse slept in a Sunday silentnessA
The air raised not a straw The steep farm roofJ
With tiles duskily glowing entertainedK
The mid day sun and up and down the roofJ
White pigeons nestled There was no sound but oneD
Three cart horses were looking over a gateL
Drowsily through their forelocks swishing their tailsA
Against a fly a solitary flyM
-
The Winter's cheek flushed as if he had drainedK
Spring Summer and Autumn at a draughtN
And smiled quietly But 'twas not winterO
Rather a season of bliss unchangeableM
Awakened from farm and church where it had lainP
Safe under tile and thatch for ages sinceA
This England Old already was called MerryQ
