The Child In The Orchard Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDD BAEEDD ABFFDD GGHHD

'He rolls in the orchard he is stained with mossA
And with earth the solitary old white horseB
Where is his father and where is his motherC
Among all the brown horses Has he a brotherC
I know the swallow the hawk and the hernD
But there are two million things for me to learnD
-
'Who was the lady that rode the white horseB
With rings and bells to Banbury CrossA
Was there no other lady in England besideE
That a nursery rhyme could take for a rideE
The swift the swallow the hawk and the hernD
There are two million things for me to learnD
-
'Was there a man once who straddled acrossA
The back of the Westbury White HorseB
Over there on Salisbury Plain's green wallF
Was he bound for Westbury or had he a fallF
The swift the swallow the hawk and the hernD
There are two million things for me to learnD
-
'Out of all the white horses I know threeG
At the age of six and it seems to meG
There is so much to learn for menH
That I dare not go to bed againH
The swift the swallow the hawk and the hernD
There are millions things for me to learn '-
