| Her locked her out of doors at bedtime | C |
| And had her kittens duly drowned | D |

| And birds of bright voice and plume and flight | G |
| As well as scraps from neighbours pails | F |

| I loathed and hated her for this | F |
| One speckle on a thrush s breast | H |
| Was worth a million such and yet | I |
| She lived long till God gave her rest | H |
