On The Friendship Betwixt Two Ladies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI JKJK ALAM

Tell me lovely loving pairA
Why so kind and so severeB
Why so careless of our careA
Only to yourselves so dearB
-
By this cunning change of heartsC
You the power of love controlD
While the boy's eluded dartsC
Can arrive at neither soulD
-
For in vain to either breastE
Still beguiled love does comeF
Where he finds a foreign guestE
Neither of your hearts at homeG
-
Debtors thus with like designH
When they never mean to payI
That they may the law declineH
To some friend make all awayI
-
Not the silver doves that flyJ
Yoked in Cytherea's carK
Not the wings that lift so highJ
And convey her son so farK
-
Are so lovely sweet and fairA
Or do more ennoble loveL
Are so choicely matched a pairA
Or with more consent do moveM
