Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEFFFGGGF HIJ KKLMMM NFF OP

I once had a friendA
a friend I disliked and was never comfortable withB
a friend who discourages me when I try to encourage myselfC
a friend who doesn't care about me but always about himselfC
a friend who made me choose timidity instead of courageD
a friend who was never there to encourage but always to discourageE
a friend who made see white as black and black whiteF
a friend who comes less by day and more by nightF
a friend who tells me i cannot do anything rightF
a friend who claims he loves meG
claims he cares about meG
claims he is always there for meG
but pulls me back when he sees that am close to the lightF

I had to tell myself the truthH
I have to end this friendshipI
I don't need this friend anymoreJ

A day came when I took a bold step to end everything I had with FEARK
FEAR a friend I found so DEARK
FEAR a friend whom my laughter he doesn't want to HEARL
FEAR a friend who doesn't CAREM
FEAR a friend whom my burden he doesn't SHAREM
FEAR a friend who will rather watch me TEARM
-
I took a bold step to climb the mountains FEAR couldn't let me climbN
I took a bold step to fight battles FEAR couldn't let me fightF
I took a bold step to do the things FEAR couldn't let me do rightF

Poet's note: Growing up being a very naive, timid girl. Not being able to associate with people and suddenly getting tired of that life, willing to let everything go and forcing on rebuilding myself to be the woman I want. This poem is just the expression of the battles I fought to be this woman.
