America’s Birthday By Andrew Christopher Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFGHIIJJJKK

The United States has been around for two hundred and fifty yearsA
The People have shared laughter and had shed tearsB
They brought in immigrant men and women girls and boysC
They have created some of the greatest toysC
They have celebrated victories and suffered defeatsD
They have created music with some wonderful beatsD
They have built railroads so people could travel by trainsE
Soon after they took to the skies and flew in planesE
But they suffered many economic depressionsF
And endured British colonial ruleG
They built every home and business with the hammer and saw as their toolsH
We fought our enemies with rifles made on our own soilI
It is a nation where people work hard and toilI
They fought each other during the American Civil WarJ
When it came to the future they went through so much moreJ
But they stood stronger together than ever beforeJ
And now they stand in the modern ageK
