Threnody Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIKLMLM

Lilacs blossom just as sweetA
Now my heart is shatteredB
If I bowled it down the streetA
Who's to say it matteredB
If there's one that rode awayC
What would I be missingD
Lips that taste of tears they sayC
Are the best for kissingD
-
Eyes that watch the morning starE
Seem a little brighterF
Arms held out to darkness areE
Usually whiterF
Shall I bar the strolling guestG
Bind my brow with willowH
When they say the empty breastG
Is the softer pillowH
-
That a heart falls tinkling downI
Never think it ceasesJ
Every likely lad in townI
Gathers up the piecesK
If there's one gone whistling byL
Would I let it grieve meM
Let him wonder if I lieL
Let him half believe meM
