The Gentlest Lady Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIHJ KLKL

They say He was a serious childA
And quiet in His waysB
They say the gentlest lady smiledA
To hear the neighbors' praiseB
-
The coffers of her heart would closeC
Upon their smaliest wordD
Yet did they say How tall He growsE
They thought she had not heardD
-
They say upon His birthday eveF
She'd rock Him to His restG
As if she could not have Him leaveF
The shelter of her breastG
-
The poor must go in bitter thriftH
The poor must give in painI
But ever did she get a giftH
To greet His day againJ
-
They say she'd kiss the Boy awakeK
And hail Him gay and clearL
But oh her heart was like to breakK
To count another yearL
