The Dramatists Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI

A string of shiny days we hadA
A spotless sky a yellow sunB
And neither you nor I was sadA
When that was through and doneB
-
But when one day a boy comes byC
And pleads me with your happiest vowD
There was a lad I knew I'll sighC
I do not know him nowD
-
And when another girl shall passE
And speak a little name I saidF
Then you will say There was a lassE
I wonder is she deadF
-
And each of us will sigh and startG
A talking of a faded yearH
And lay a hand above a heartG
And dry a pretty tearI
