Testament Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECDE

Oh let it be a night of lyric rainA
And singing breezes when my bell is tolledB
I have so loved the rain that I would holdB
Last in my ears its friendly dim refralnA
I shall lie cool and quiet who have lainA
Fevered and watched the book of day unfoldB
Death will not see me flinch the heart is boldB
That pain has made incapable of painA
-
Kinder the busy worms than ever loveC
It will be peace to lie there empty eyedD
My bed made secret by the leveling showersE
My breast replenishing the weeds aboveC
And you will say of me Then has she diedD
Perhaps I should have sent a spray of flowersE
