Hearthside Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCBC DDEFEF GGHIHI JJKLKL

Half across the world from meA
Lie the lands I'll never seeA
I whose longing lives and diesB
Where a ship has sailed awayC
I that never close my eyesB
But to look upon CathayC
-
Things I may not know nor tellD
Wait where older waters swellD
Ways that flowered at Sappho's treadE
Winds that sighed in Homer's stringsF
Vibrant with the singing deadE
Golden with the dust of wingsF
-
Under deeper skies than mineG
Quiet valleys dip and shineG
Where their tender grasses healH
Ancient scars of trench and tombI
I shall never walk nor kneelH
Where the bones of poets bloomI
-
If I seek a lovelier partJ
Where I travel goes my heartJ
Where I stray my thought must goK
With me wanders my desireL
Best to sit and watch the snowK
Turn the lock and poke the fireL
