Don’t Beat Papa Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAD EFGH IEJK LMNO BPEQPO RGALS

Mama beat papa the other dayA
Like a little boy papa cried bitterlyB
As though wishing for his mama to help himC
So embarrassed was papa that dayA
Beaten like a naughty child in the days of oldD
-
Answers to his problems he had notE
So papa to alcohol turned for answersF
Just a little to cool his mindG
A little too much for papa s brainsH
-
A little pill mama started takingI
Its name mama knew notE
Advised by an unwise woman down the roadJ
To take the illegal drug the deadly drugK
-
Though I live in a mansionL
Better are those down there in a shackM
Though little food they shareN
Love and peace in their shack there isO
-
Mistake me not to desire povertyB
Only a papa and mama I desireP
A role model in my home I have notE
But the maid staying in squatter campQ
Illiterate is mama s domestic workerP
Yet full of wisdom the maid isO
-
Wondering wondering I have beenR
Like a feather blown away by windG
So the domestic worker taught me one dayA
To pray to my Creator in heavenL
Hope for life I have finally foundS
