Henry James At The Pacific Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCDEFGHIJDJKK

Coronado Beach California MarchA
-
In a hotel room by the sea the MasterB
Sits brooding on the continent he has crossedC
Not that he foresees immediate disasterB
Only a sort of freshness being lostC
Or should he go on calling it InnocenceD
The sad faced monsters of the plains are goneE
Wall Street controls the wilderness There's an immenseF
Novel in all this waiting to be doneG
But not not sadly enough by him HisH
talentsI
Such as they may be want a different themeJ
Rather more civilized than this on balanceD
For him now always the recurring dreamJ
Is just the mild dear light of Lamb House fallingK
Beautifully down the pages of his callingK
