Absences Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHIJKEE| It's snowing this afternoon and there are no flowers | A |
| There is only this sound of falling quiet and remote | B |
| Like the memory of scales descending the white keys | C |
| Of a childhood piano outside the window palms | D |
| And the heavy head of the cereus inclining | E |
| Soon to let down its white or yellow white | F |
| - | |
| Now only these poor snow flowers in a heap | G |
| Like the memory of a white dress cast down | H |
| So much has fallen | I |
| And I who have listened for a step | J |
| All afternoon hear it now but already falling away | K |
| Already in memory And the terrible scales descending | E |
| On the silent piano the snow and the absent flowers abounding | E |
