Before the endA
I married a crippled Chinese girlB
with a crippled catC
I met her at the theaterD
near the ruins of lifeE
her people destituteF
like rats in the streetG
-
we traveled by trainH
in the rainH
in the darknessI
without food or waterD
while the modern engine roared onJ
I took her to a better lifeE
in a better landK
reaching the shoreL
I took her handK
and to my homeM
the morning was my horrorD
my only son ran awayN
but I had to start another dayN
by the time another night had fallenO
my sisters came callingP
and together we all rejoicedQ
then my son returnedR
with his crippled catC
and we all donned red dressesS
to hide our mangled legsT
but we could not join the cast of lifeE
so we huddled on a street cornerD
all alone togetherD
-
when I first saw herD
reflectionO
in a broken window glassU
she was applying red lipstickV
she turned to look at meW
and her lips were yellowX
she didn't knowX
I was dead to the worldY
I only saw her faceZ
but I knew she was an angelA2
her spirit her soulB2
saw me as a godC2
her saviorD
but that was sheW
she lifted my soulB2
as we traveled on that train togetherD
for foreverD
in the rainH
but lives surviveD2
our children came and wentE2
all in all it was goodF2
we squandered life togetherD
living togetherD
alone togetherD
until foreverD
