This Is A Poem I Wrote At Night, Before The Dawn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEDFGH IIDIJGGIKKI

This is a poem I wrote before I died and was rebornA
After the years of the apples ripening and the eaglesB
soaringC
After the festival here the small flowers gleamed like theD
first starsE
And the horses cantered and romped away like theD
experience of skill mastered and sereneF
Power grasped and governed by reins lightly held byG
knowing handsH
-
The horses had cantered away far enough awayI
So that I saw the horses' heads farther and farther awayI
And saw that they had reached the black horizon on theD
dusk of dayI
And were or seemed black thunderheads massy andJ
ominous waves in the doomed skyG
And it was then for the first time then that I said as IG
must always sayI
All through living death of nightK
It is always darkness before delightK
The long night is always the beginning of the vivid blossom of dayI
