News of the Gold World of May in Holland MichiganA
Wooden shoes will clatter againB
on freshly scrubbed streetsC
-
The tulip will arise and reign again from awnings andD
windowsE
of all colors and formsF
its vine verve and valentine curvesG
-
upon the city streets the public groundsH
and private lawnsI
wherever it is conceivableJ
that a bulb might take rootK
and the two lips softly curved come upL
possessed by the skilled love and will of a ballerinaM
-
The citizens will dance in folk dancesN
They will thump they will pumpO
thudding and shovingP
elbow and thighQ
bumping and laughing like barrels and bellsR
-
Vast fields of tulips in full bloomS
the reproduction of a miniature Dutch villageT
part of a gigantic flower showU
