the cure of souls Henry JamesA

-
The radiant soda of the seashore fashionsB
Fun foam and freedom The sea lavesB
The Shaven sand And the light sways forwardC
On self destroying wavesB
-
The rigor of the weekday is cast aside with shoesB
With business suits and traffic's motionD
The lolling man lies with the passionate sunD
Or is drunken in the oceanD
-
A socialist health take should of the adultE
He is stripped of his class in the bathing suitF
He returns to the children digging at summerG
A melon like fruitF
-
O glittering and rocking and bursting and blueH
Eternities of sea and sky shadow no pleasureG
Time unheard moves and the heart of man is eatenD
Consummately at leisureG
-
The novelist tangential on the boardwalk overheadI
Seeks his cure of souls in his own anxious gazeB
Here he says With whom he asks This he questionsB
What tedium what blazeB
-
What satisfaction fruit What transit heavenD
Criminal justified arrived at what JuneJ
That nervous conscience amid the concessionsB
Is haunting haunted moonJ
