| My parents could not read or write | B |
| It was a struggle to finish Matric with candle light | B |
| When others kids could have their rapports signed | C |
| I had to sign my own | D |
| When others could bring their fathers to school | E |
| dad would not he was too shy and emaciated | F |
| and did not fit in | G |

| I was ridiculed because of my appearance | H |
| about my physical attributes cheap clothes | I |
| and broken shoes | J |
| Our food was not what many would be proud of | K |
| At times dad threw mom s clothes out of the door | L |
| since they had a fight in his drunken stupor | M |
| - | |
| But if I could have it all over again I would want them back | N |
| as is warts and all | O |
| Because in spite of what I had to endure in my childhood | P |
| I now know they have loved me | Q |
| and stood by me | Q |
| Nobody except my King could love me as fully | Q |
| and as sincerely as they did | F |
| And yes there were times when I wanted to reject them | R |
| there were times when I was ashamed of them | R |
| There were times when I dreamed of another a better family | Q |
| Often I wanted to leave run away | S |
| To my greatest shame I have seldom expressed appreciation | T |
| for what they did for me | Q |
| Oh how I wish they were around today | S |
| so that I can get at least tell them that I love them | R |
| prove to them that I did and continue to appreciate | U |
| what they have done for me | Q |
| Nothing induces greater pain | V |
| than the thought that I have failed to show a thankful heart | W |
| If I had the change to do it all over again | X |
| I would show my appreciation as often as I could | P |
| and as fully as I should | P |
