Graduating From Childhood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDD EDFGHIJKLDIMDDNOPQRA OST

I realized with trepidationA
that you fast growing upB
Soon you and many of your generationA
will graduate from childhoodC
and enter the challenging and complex domain of maturityD
although I sometimes think you have done so alreadyD
-
At the start of this new phase here are a few thoughtsE
We have the duty to contribute to a more just humane and caring societyD
do your best to play your partF
All men and women are born equalG
Stand up for what you believe inH
stand up for others and stand up for yourselfI
You have the absolute right to be hereJ
Be a blessing wherever you goK
and leave a lasting impression of respect humility love hope and joyL
If one manages to do this with physical beautyD
you attract cheap and fleeting glory for yourselfI
If you impress with your material possessionsM
you attribute honor to decaying vanityD
If however you rely on qualities such as honestyD
and respect glory and honor are due to your MakerN
After meeting othersO
you must leave them more empoweredP
more respected and more lovedQ
even though you yourself might feel hurtR
wounded and down troddenA
Serve humanity and choose a life that mattersO
Not so much for its duration but for its dedication not because of what you have achievedS
but for what you have managed to giveT
