The Passover In The Holy Family (for A Drawing) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACDAEDEDDE

Here meet together the prefiguring dayA
And day prefigured Eating thou shalt standB
Feet shod loins girt thy road staff in thine handB
With blood stained door and lintel did God sayA
By Moses' mouth in ages passed awayA
And now where this poor household doth compriseC
At Paschal Feast two kindred familiesD
Lo the slain lamb confronts the Lamb to slayA
The pyre is piled What agony's crown attainedE
What shadow of Death the Boy's fair brow subduesD
Who holds that blood wherewith the porch is stainedE
By Zachary the priest John binds the shoesD
He deemed himself not worthy to unlooseD
And Mary culls the bitter herbs ordainedE
