The One Hope Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABCD EFFEEF

When all desire at last and all regretA
Go hand in hand to death and all is vainB
What shall assuage the unforgotten painB
And teach the unforgetful to forgetA
Shall Peace be still a sunk stream long unmetA
Or may the soul at once in a green plainB
Stoop through the spray of some sweet life fountainC
And cull the dew drenched flowering amuletD
-
Ah when the wan soul in that golden airE
Between the scriptured petals softly blownF
Peers breathless for the gift of grace unknownF
Ah let none other written spell soe'erE
But only the one Hope's one name be thereE
Not less nor more but even that word aloneF
