The day is dark and the night	A
To him that would search their heart	B
No lips of cloud that will part	B
Nor morning song in the light	A
Only gazing alone	C
To him wild shadows are shown	C
Deep under deep unknown	C
And height above unknown height	A
Still we say as we go	D
Strange to think by the way	E
Whatever there is to know	D
That shall we know one day	E

Nam'd new we name it the old	G
