Sonnet Xviii: Genius In Beauty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADDAEFFEEF

Beauty like hers is genius Not the callA
Of Homer's or of Dante's heart sublimeB
Not Michael's hand furrowing the zones of timeB
Is more with compassed mysteries musicalC
Nay not in Spring's or Summer's sweet footfallA
More gathered gifts exuberant Life bequeathsD
Than doth this sovereign face whose love spell breathesD
Even from its shadowed contour on the wallA
As many men are poets in their youthE
But for one sweet strung soul the wires prolongF
Even through all change the indomitable songF
So in like wise the envenomed years whose toothE
Rends shallower grace with ruin void of ruthE
Upon this beauty's power shall wreak no wrongF
