Sonnet Xlv: Secret Parting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDECD

Because our talk was of the cloud controlA
And moon track of the journeying face of FateB
Her tremulous kisses faltered at love's gateB
And her eyes dreamed against a distant goalA
But soon remembering her how brief the wholeA
Of joy which its own hours annihilateB
Her set gaze gathered thirstier than of lateB
And as she kissed her mouth became her soulA
Thence in what ways we wandered and how stroveC
To build with fire tried vows the piteous homeD
Which memory haunts and whither sleep may roamD
They only know for whom the roof of LoveE
Is the still seated secret of the groveC
Nor spire may rise nor bell be heard therefromD
