Insomnia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDCD EFFECDCD GHIGCDCD

Thin are the night skirts left behindA
By daybreak hours that onward creepB
And thin alas the shred of sleepB
That wavers with the spirit's windA
But in half dreams that shift and rollC
And still remember and forgetD
My soul this hour has drawn your soulC
A little nearer yetD
-
Our lives most dear are never nearE
Our thoughts are never far apartF
Though all that draws us heart to heartF
Seems fainter now and now more clearE
To night Love claims his full controlC
And with desire and with regretD
My soul this hour has drawn your soulC
A little nearer yetD
-
Is there a home where heavy earthG
Melts to bright air that breathes no painH
Where water leaves no thirst againI
And springing fire is Love's new birthG
If faith long bound to one true goalC
May there at length its hope begetD
My soul that hour shall draw your soulC
For ever nearer yetD
