Dantis Tenebrae (in Memory Of My Father) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGEEHEEIE

AND didst thou know indeed when at the fontA
Together with thy name thou gav'st me hisB
That also on thy son must BeatriceC
Decline her eyes according to her wontD
Accepting me to be of those that hauntE
The vale of magical dark mysteriesF
Where to the hills her poet's foot track liesG
And wisdom's living fountain to his chauntE
Trembles in music This is that steep landE
Where he that holds his journey stands at gazeH
Tow'rd sunset when the clouds like a new heightE
Seem piled to climb These things I understandE
For here where day still soothes my lifted faceI
On thy bowed head my father fell the nightE
