Barren Spring Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDDEED

So now the changed year's turning wheel returnsA
And as a girl sails balanced in the windB
And now before and now again behindB
Stoops as it swoops with cheek that laughs and burnsA
So Spring comes merry towards me now but earnsA
No answering smile from me whose life is twin'dB
With the dead boughs that winter still must bindB
And whom to day the Spring no more concernsA
-
Behold this crocus is a withering flameC
This snowdrop snow this apple blossom's partD
To breed the fruit that breeds the serpent's artD
Nay for these Spring flowers turn thy face from themE
Nor gaze till on the year's last lily stemE
The white cup shrivels round the golden heartD
