The Rising Of The Sun Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIHJHKLMNFOPH QRHSATTUHH

I did not expect to live in such an unusual momentA
When the God of thunders and of rocky heightsB
The Lord of hosts Kyrios SabaothC
Would humble people to the quickD
Allowing them to act whatever way they wishedE
Leaving to them conclusions saying nothingF
It was a spectacle that was indeed unlikeG
The agelong cycle of royal tragediesH
Roads on concrete pillars cities of glass and cast ironI
Airfields larger than tribal dominionsH
Suddenly ran short of their essence and disintegratedJ
Not in a dream but really for subtracted from themselvesH
They could only hold on as do things which should not lastK
Out of trees field stones even lemons on the tableL
Materiality escaped and their spectrumM
Proved to be a void a haze on a filmN
Dispossessed of its objects space was swarmingF
Everywhere was nowhere and nowhere everywhereO
Letters in books turned silver pale wobbled and fadedP
The hand was not able to trace the palm sign the river sign or the sign of ibisH
A hullabaloo of many tongues proclaimed the mortality of the languageQ
A complaint was forbidden as it complained to itselfR
People afflicted with an incomprehensible distressH
Were throwing off their clothes on the piazzas so that nakedness might callS
For judgmentA
But in vain they were longing after horror pity and angerT
Neither work nor leisureT
Was justifiedU
Nor the face nor the hair nor the loinsH
Nor any existenceH
