A
We whose lungs fill with the sweetness of dayB
Who in May admire trees floweringC
Are better than those who perishedD
-
We who taste of exotic dishesE
And enjoy fully the delights of loveF
Are better than those who were buriedG
-
We from the fiery furnaces from behind barbed wiresH
On which the winds of endless autumns howledI
We who remember battles where the wounded air roared inJ
paroxysms of painK
We saved by our own cunning and knowledgeL
-
By sending others to the more exposed positionsM
Urging them loudly to fight onN
Ourselves withdrawing in certainty of the cause lostO
-
Having the choice of our own death and that of a friendP
We chose his coldly thinking Let it be done quicklyQ
-
We sealed gas chamber doors stole breadR
Knowing the next day would be harder to bear than the day beforeS
-
As befits human beings we explored good and evilT
Our malignant wisdom has no like on this planetU
-
Accept it as proven that we are better than theyB
The gullible hot blooded weaklings careless with their livesV
-
-
Treasure your legacy of skills child of EuropeW
Inheritor of Gothic cathedrals of baroque churchesE
Of synagogues filled with the wailing of a wronged peopleT
Successor of Descartes Spinoza inheritor of the word 'honor'S
Posthumous child of LeonidasE
Treasure the skills acquired in the hour of terrorS
-
You have a clever mind which sees instantlyQ
The good and bad of any situationX
You have an elegant skeptical mind which enjoys pleasuresE
Quite unknown to primitive racesE
-
Guided by this mind you cannot fail to seeQ
The soundness of the advice we give youY
Let the sweetness of day fill your lungsE
For this we have strict but wise rulesE
-
-
There can be no question of force triumphantZ
We live in the age of victorious justiceE
-
Do not mention force or you will be accusedA2
Of upholding fallen doctrines in secretU
-
He who has power has it by historical logicB2
Respectfully bow to that logicB2
-
Let your lips proposing a hypothesisE
Not know about the hand faking the experimentZ
-
Let your hand faking the experimentZ
No know about the lips proposing a hypothesisE
-
Learn to predict a fire with unerring precisionX
Then burn the house down to fulfill the predictionX
-
-
Grow your tree of falsehood from a single grain of truthC2
Do not follow those who lie in contempt of realityQ
-
Let your lie be even more logical than the truth itselfD2
So the weary travelers may find repose in the lieE2
-
After the Day of the Lie gather in select circlesE
Shaking with laughter when our real deeds are mentionedF2
-
Dispensing flattery called perspicacious thinkingC
Dispensing flattery called a great talentZ
-
We the last who can still draw joy from cynicismG2
We whose cunning is not unlike despairS
-
A new humorless generation is now arisingC
It takes in deadly earnest all we received with laughterS
-
-
Let your words speak not through their meaningsE
But through them against whom they are usedA2
-
Fashion your weapon from ambiguous wordsE
Consign clear words to lexical limboH2
-
Judge no words before the clerks have checkedI2
In their card index by whom they were spokenX
-
The voice of passion is better than the voice of reasonX
The passionless cannot change historyQ
-
-
Love no country countries soon disappearS
Love no city cities are soon rubbleT
-
Throw away keepsakes or from your deskJ2
A choking poisonous fume will exudeK2
-
Do not love people people soon perishL2
Or they are wronged and call for your helpM2
-
Do not gaze into the pools of the pastN2
Their corroded surface will mirrorS
A face different from the one you expectedO2
-
-
He who invokes history is always secureS
The dead will not rise to witness against himP2
-
You can accuse them of any deeds you likeQ2
Their reply will always be silenceE
-
Their empty faces swim out of the deep darkR2
You can fill them with any feature desiredS2
-
Proud of dominion over people long vanishedD
Change the past into your own better likenessE
-
-
The laughter born of the love of truthC2
Is now the laughter of the enemies of the peopleT
-
Gone is the age of satire We no longer need mockT2
The sensible monarch with false courtly phrasesE
-
Stern as befits the servants of a causeE
We will permit ourselves sycophantic humorS
-
Tight lipped guided by reasons onlyQ
Cautiously let us step into the era of the unchained fireS
